Cheese Scones

Easy and Cheesy

The ingredients:
  • 225g self raising flour
  • 55g butter (plain or salted)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 20g - 40g of cheeses, cheddar, mix of Jarlsberg and Parmesan
  • 150ml milk
  • More flour
Optional Ingredients
  • Chilli pepper
  • Paprika
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Weighing scales
  • Sieve
  • Knife
  • Baking tray
  • Grease-proof baking paper
  • Board or worktop
The procedure:
  1. Heat fan assisted oven to 473 K.
  2. Prepare baking tray, use grease-proof baking paper with a small amount of butter.
  3. Mix flour and salt in large bowl.
  4. Rub in the butter. (Use knife to divide the butter into small pieces and rub in with finger and thumb).
  5. Stir in cheeses.
  6. Add milk to make a soft dough, if you add all at once you may need to add a little more flour.
  7. Between hands roll the dough into a cylinder around 400 mm in length. Cut this in half and then into 10 equal pieces to make 10 cubes and place these on to the tray gently patting into squares.
  8. Brush milk on to tops of the scones, can use hands to do this.
  9. Place scones in the preheated oven for 15 mins.
