File Extensions for Fortran
These are not specified in Fortran, there is no need for the code to be presented as a file, howerver, it might be sensible to follow the following convention. Note that the new standards still can include code written in the older styles. Some use .f90 for all free form code.
- .f90 free form source code.
- .f or .for fixed form code.
- .f90 .f95 .f03 for modern free form code.
- .F, .F90, F95, .F03, etc. when code should be preprocessed in a C-like style
